The graphics are stunning in this antique Pennsylvania railroad crossing quilt!
The Railroad Crossing block dates to the mid-1800s, a time when railroads were rapidly expanding across the United States. Quilters often named patterns after familiar features of daily life, and the intersecting bars clearly resemble tracks crossing at right angles.
